Hi! I'm Kelsey
I live in a small town in Iowa with my husband, our three children (well... technically 2.5 since one has flown the nest), and 2.5 fur babies (one of whom moved out with our daughter but still comes over when she works—shared custody, pet-parent style).
By day, I serve as the Communications & Marketing Director at Discover Hope 517—an incredible organization dedicated to addiction recovery and providing a safe place for those seeking a fresh start. It’s more than just work; it’s a calling.
When I'm not watching my daughter dance or cheering on my son at a game, you’ll likely find me in my cozy room, coffee in hand, journaling, doing a Bible study, reading, or soaking in music. And when the weather allows, my family and I head to the campgrounds—it’s our happy place.
Though I love deep connection, I’m an introvert at heart. I thrive in solitude, especially when I’m surrounded by the peace and presence of God. But don’t let the put-together appearance fool you—my life is often a hot mess. Thankfully, I belong to a God who specializes in turning messes into messages.
Over the course of my 30+ years, I’ve faced my fair share of trials. 2020 marked the lowest valley of my life—and also the start of my greatest transformation. It became my rescue story. In the midst of my brokenness, God met me. Piece by piece, He began restoring what I thought was beyond repair.
Looking back, I see how God was breaking generational chains—of addiction, abandonment, and immorality—and writing a redemptive story I never could’ve imagined. For years, I called myself a Christian, but it wasn’t until that year that I became a true follower of Jesus. Since then, I’ve been on fire for the Lord—and the flame hasn’t gone out.
These days, I’m simply writing for the glory of the Lord—sharing stories, devotionals, and reflections from everyday life as a mother, wife, and devoted Christ-follower. I’m not chasing platforms; I’m humbling myself before God, trusting that “in due time, He will lift [me] up” (1 Peter 5:6).
Where this path leads, only God knows. But I’m saying “yes” to His plan, trusting that it’s better than mine. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:
There’s no testimony without a test.
No message without a mess.
And I’ve got plenty of both to share and God can use them all to help and give hope to someone else going through similar stories as me.
Thanks for being here—I'm so glad you're part of the journey.
My life verse:
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
2 Corinthians 5:17
